Accreditation
Accreditation
The new exam from the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB) is here! PRSA National has posted a Frequently Asked Questions page about the new exam, and a new application (this is a PDF file) has been developed.

The Connecticut Valley Chapter offers study group sessions free of charge for chapter members preparing for the accreditation examination. Those who successfully pass the exams earn the distinguished letters "APR" (Accredited in Public Relations) for use after their name.

For more information on earning your APR, contact PRSA-CVC Accreditation Chair Howard Drescher by email or by phone at 860-285-7875.

Maintenance
Most APRs have to renew their accreditation every three years.  A copy also goes to the chapter accreditation chairs. Re-accreditation is based on activities and requires no testing. For more information, see below or contact Alison Karam by email or at 860-657-3815.

To maintain your accreditation, you need to accumulate a minimum of 10 points within your specified three-year period in any of the following areas: continuing education, professionalism or public service. To view a list of activities and programs that count toward points, please review the APR maintenance application form. (Note: This is a PDF file. Click to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.) Chapter programs earn 1/2 point toward accreditation maintenance. Winning a Mercury or Merit award earns two points toward accreditation maintenance.

For questions about your personal maintenance situation, please contact our chapter's Accreditation Maintenance Coach, Alison Karam, APR.
